Newspaper reports claim that Liverpool are prepared to offer Tottenham £10million for Jermaine Defoe. Reds boss Kenny Dalglish desperately needs a striker after blowing £35million on flop Andy Carroll and unsettled Defoe (29) has emerged as an option. Spurs are keen on Marseille's Loic Remy (25) and should they manage to land him, Defoe will almost certainly be shown the door. Ironically Liverpool have also been offered Remy but so far we haven't shown that much interest in him. Liverpool's director of football Damien Comolli has short-listed a number of strikers, most of which have been covered previously by ourselves. KOPTALK sources claim that Comolli plans to bring in 2 strikers between now and next season and also offload Carroll at the same time, if a buyer can be found. Comolli is also keen on the idea of re-signing Fernando Torres for a knocked-down fee but his opinion isn't shared by everyone at Anfield. Chelsea could be tempted into doing business but it'd be very complicated. The player himself is up for a return. [ED: Defoe has been mooted numerous times by Anfield scouts under both Rafa and Kenny so I wouldn't dismiss any reported interest in him]. ===== MEMBERS: Liverpool's interest in Torres and where both clubs stand -->> =====
