Let the finger pointing commence! As the final whistle blew on the crushing and thoroughly undeserved loss to Arsenal Liverpool’s faint hopes of CL qualification evaporated. It was by far our best performance of the season and even with a weakened line up Arsenal were comprehensively outplayed. But as ever, we couldn’t score and it cost us dearly. In light of this bitter defeat the managers and players alike have been called out from all quarters. Going by the current common consensus the most obvious and beneficial solution would be to sack them all. Unsurprisingly it’s not a solution I necessarily agree with.

Success breeds success

And so it came to pass – Liverpool emerged as the victors of the Carling Cup in what proved to be one of the most dramatic finals in recent memory. This was a rollercoaster of a match, fraught with highs, lows, despair and jubilation. For the neutral it was a spectacle of sport, for the fans it was prolonged torture over the course of 120 minutes. Thankfully the reds emerged victorious, but it so easily could have gone the other way. Victory was achieved by the slenderest of margins and the tension throughout the game was nothing short of unbearable at times.

Adam - fat, slow and afraid to tackle or a great buy?

I often find it silly how we as a species respond to adversity. We are emotional creatures, and as such different scenarios illicit different emotional reactions. So it is with enormous joy that I revel in the mirth and jollity which has accompanied our recent win over Top 4 rivals Chelsea. This is a stark contrast to only two weeks ago when I found myself defending Dalglish to the tilt against what seemed like a barrage of relentless posters whose patience was less than one would have desired from the once fabled “best supporters in the world”. It’s always much easier to support a team when they're winning.
