Yes CareeX I know that was the target set but pragmatism comes into play here we are where we are and we need to do whats best from the positon as at now. The decision is do the cups demonstrate there is scope for progress or is it a one of situation covering up for fundamental lack of managerial ability. I know what I think but I am not them.

His objective was to reach 4th in the league. That target was set for financial purposes. Winning a domestic pot or 2 is a mere drop in the ocean financially and should have no bearing on his future. All kenny has proved is that he is good in the cups and poor in the league. Why would next season be any different if we keep him? Financially we NEED the CL, hence the objective.

To be fair we were never good in cups under the previous two managers, getting knocked out early in the 3rd rounds to lower opposition was always a hard pill to swallow. Kenny needs better players, he spent a lot but his players are not good enough sadly and that is why I think he can improve on the league with more quality plus add the good things he brings to the cup completions and we could have a very good season if given time.

But this is the issue, his players have not suited our strategy and system, and Kenny chose them. With better players anyone manager will do better, but can Kenny chose 'better' players that fit a system? On last years evidence. No.

bigred, even I have my doubts over Kenny's purchases sadly. I think this is one of his biggest downfalls. Transfers will no doubt need to improve if he needs to be more successful.

Btw I've no problem fsg questioning kenny on anything as that's their job to do the best for the club along as they don't try to force the managers hand.

Absolute lunacy, and one of the daftest comments I have ever read. If my boss ever decides to sack me, shall I tell him that there is no guarantee that my replacement will do any better?!?

People get sacked for missing their targets and/or for underperforming. A calculated risk is then made on their replacement - how do you think kenny got the job in the first place?

Is it really? Did Roy do better than rafa? Have any chelsea managers done better than jose? Is connor doing better than mc carthy? No! Think before you speak, a new manager does not mean instant success.

WHAT?!?!? Have you even read what I posted?? And you tell ME to think before I speak. grin

You insinuated that a new manager would fair better. Where did I say kenny would tell fsg tht someone else would do no better? You made that up not me.

I think if kenny stays, this time around he will buy players that he can fit into the system he wants.

WHATEVER THAT SYSTEM IS

If that system wins, does it matter what it is?

Not a jot. I'm hoping Kenny takes heed of the win ratio playing 2 up front rather than opting for the one up front system. If he is to stay, kenny could really do with ending on a high and some wins. That way we can take a bit of momentum and optimism through the summer to the beginning of the new season. If he stays because another trophy but remains poor in the league, I think it could be a bit of a nervous grey cloud of the club over summer. Not the greatest for moral.

Have to disagree with that, I think he should be removed as soon as the season finishes.
No matter wether we win two trophies or not, the League campagn has proved them to be hollow, you cant seriously keep a manager who has spent over 100 million pound and is going to finish about 15 points behind a Newcastle team he raided for there two best players.
The owners were fair with Dalglish when they gave him the job, they provided him with unlimited funds, allowed him to bring in his own backroom staff and gave him full control all they asked in return was Champions League football, now considering our main rivals had European commitments and Chelsea and Arsenal our two main rivals have had the worst seasons in memory I dont think that was an unrealistic ask. We now find ourselves further away from Champions League than ever, behind Everton of all Clubs who have spent nothing and worst of the lot nothing to hold onto as in things will be better next season, if anything given our form since January we are real relegation material.
