The endless self-pity is getting nauseating. Can we pick things up a bit? Yes, our league positing is not good enough... yes we're are in a run of bad results... but please stop acting like we're Rochedale! Things change quickly... patterns alter season to season. A good summer of strengthening and some careful decision making can make all the difference between competing for the top four and missing out. We didn't have a bumper transfer window last autumn but that doesn't mean we never will again. We've proven that we can beat the best in cup games... now we have to fine-tune the squad for consistency in the league. We have to find those players to turn our endless close chances into goals... and our domination into wins. We have to make tough decisions on players that aren't (or are no longer) top four material - like Dirk Kuyt. If anything, it's an exciting time and we should embrace the challenges ahead... not endlessly moaning and wallowing in self-pity because we have to slum it with two domestic cup finals. Can Downing, Henderson, Carroll turn the corner? Can we find that 30 goal scorer to build a top four strike force. Can we find a magic playmaker to complement our rather one-dimensional midfield? Can we get a bit more speed down the flanks... maybe some crossing consistency? Who will emerge from our youth ranks? Will Kelly, Robinson, Flannagan, Spearing, Shelvey, etc., make the grade? Will some of them be sacrificed for better prospects? Will we win the cup double? Will we go on a decent run in Europe next year? Will any stadium development be announced? What will the changes be in the summer?

Is this really a bad time to be a Liverpool fan? Should I really feel sorry for those fans at the game staring at the ground and wondering what's for their tea... while their are thousands of poor kids who would give their right arm for a chance to cheer the team win or lose? The winds will change... they always do... teams will rise and fall. The Evertons, Spurs, and Newcastles of the world will sneak into the CL spaces once in a while... but they never stay there long before slipping back down. A lot of teams above us will go potless this season... and the league may look quite different this time next year.

Preaching doom and gloom is convenient and somewhat safe... but I believe Liverpool will rise more quickly than people project. They are missing elements and components... and a wiser and more studied ownership group will get better in the off-season. We are a more attractive club than people give us credit for... and there are always talented players to be had and gems to uncover. Our academy is in good shape and we may win two out of three competitions this year, although the main goal has been missed in the league. What I saw against West Brom was a mental thing.... we're in the grip of some virus in home games against lower opposition... but it will pass.

I don't expect other fans to pity us... many of them would gladly change places with us. Therefore the self-pity and endless whinging from our own fans is just not edifying at all. It's easy to sing YNWA when we're winning European cups... but now is the time to toughen up and practice it.

I think this is a good time to be a Liverpool fan. Being there during the bad times, and to watch us grow and overcome the challenges we face.

Thats a real insult to fellow fans Kop Prophet who are guilty of no more than not having your opinion. Ok so we have a different perspective to your own. Is that so difficult for you to absorb? I can also see you are quoting me and having a personal dig at me which is disappointing.

Your viewpoint is that things will sort themselves out and we just need to have patience. Thats great and you may be right. Mine and many others feel things are going badly wrong both in terms of Dalglish and the tardyness of the owners.

Given where we started (a top 6 side at least) add £116m of expensive players that should have moved the club forward. Its not and the success in the cups has only served to confuse the situation with success in the cups diametric to our league performance.

I guess it hangs on whether you believe Dalglish will progress from this point. I don't think he will (for many reasons) and I find the need to say so on this forum. Partially because I enjoy the forum because I like to exchange views with other fans and partly because I believe it to be my duty as a fan to influence what I believe is right for the club.

Finally I know you are an overseas fan who follows the club and thats fine. But when you are about to personally spend £800 (which is a lot to me (I am out of work right now)) to follow a club with a manager you don't rate and a club you believe is heading in the wrong direction then I can assure you Kop Prophet its a lot harder to stomach. I can hear you say then don't renew its a bit more complicated than that I have gone for over 40 years and had a season ticket for 25 and go with friends I have known for 40 years. Where it not for that it would be a no brainer there is no way I would renew and certaintly not with Dalglish in charge. As it happens I am thinking about it very seriously and this might be the year for me. Were we to get rid of Dalglish it could swing me the other way.

that's a bit rich mate telling KP what he can and can't say seeing as you post the same doom and gloom in every thread! When anyone challenges your opinion you tell them the club is going down the toilet and they are blindfaithers ....

But the club is going down the toilet though unless Henry acts not on Dalglish but the infrastructure. I have said that millions of times and will continue to do so. I also said it in Manchester at a PwC conference where Rick Parry was at which caused a ruction. That was in the late 90’s I believed it then and I believe it even more now.

but you agree you have a negative opinion about our club and bring it to every thread you post in?

even your previous post using the pronoun of 'we' rather than 'I' is interesting.

In a nutshell then, you're advice is to not be unhappy and just wait until everything's all ok?

Maddog if you look at any Liverpool forum its the same debate should Kenny stay or should he go and whats Henry up to? Liverpool are in a crisis and we can either sit back ignore everything and hope it will all be ok. Or we can express an opinion its not and we want something doing about it. That's not self pity and as long as this farce continues people will speak out regularly.

I have not stated that you can't have an opinion, more that you should accept that other people may have an opinion different to yours. Maybe I have a different perspective to you and look at the glass half full.
