there's other competitons by which to assess a club not to mention the development of internal mechanisms, commercial developments, the list goes on. if you want to judge the club on the league alone then thats fine, but you cant call it the whole picture.

Sad that the first silverware the club has won since 2006 is dismissed so easily.

Not as sad as being 8th in the league despite spending a fortune. A few years ago our rivals were Man Utd, Barcelona, Milan, Real Madrid, Arsenal........now it's fulham, west brom & cardiff. Still, we've got the carling cup, eh?

The league has to be our main priority, surely? This is the manager's and players responsibility and they haven't delivered. The target this season was to challenge for a top 4 place which we have never really been close too, surely therefore this season can't be classed as a success?

It's a bonus winning cup competitions, but Birmingham won the Carling Cup last season and got relegated... At the end of the day, if you look at money spent this season and what our objectives were, I think we have failed... Perhaps this is why FSG are already wielding the axe!

It isn't sad if you look at it in economic terms. Carling Cup and FA Cup run, win or lose, will bring in about £2 million. Champions League, even just making the group stages and advancing no further, would bring in about £20 million. It's as simple as that. And you can bet that John Henry is looking at it the same way. He's a businessman, not a romantic. In modern football, domestic silverware is becoming less and less relevant.

sure, its main priority. im not using the words success or failure. its too black and white. the league has been poor, we havent achieved our goal. but we have achieved other things and it needs to be acknowledged.

the problem round here chris (and im not aiming this at you) is that as soon as someone says anything positive at all, they automatically become a blind kenny lover who think he should be manager till the end of time and that nothing is wrong at the club and mid table is where we want to be. its a waste of time and ensures that mindless debates go on for far too long.

Please don't dismiss peoples opinions without thinking about it,no point debating with people who are not willing to listen to others peoples thoughts.

Any potential new manager should think very carefully about taking the job at LFC if he is going to be turned on so quickly,sad reflection on supporters these days.
