And will rafa be happy working with/under a Director of Football? That is one of my main concerns about reappointing him and it may lead to more off field scrambling for power and control which was apparent in his last season and the results that followed

Champions league football is a long way off for us I think the squad needs to be sorted out drastically a manager change isn't going to change this without the resources and players we need brought in

why are people saying martinez isn't good enough? what chelsea fan would have believed di matteo was the man for them after being sacked by WBA? our last manager hadn't managed a team in 10 years, and most thought he was gonna come in a get us back to winning ways in no time playing brilliant football. read that sentence and see how ridiculous it sounds.

people are just being snobbish because of who martinez manages. he is consistently overachieving, NOW not 20 years ago. if you think about it martinez is a much better candidate for the lfc job then kenny.

we can't say martinez is this or that before he has even taken a training session as lfc manager.

what's that saying about reading a book by it's cover?

I would back him if he got the job, doesn't stop me having reservations about his ability to step up and managing a far bigger club than he is currently at,with far bigger egos and attitudes in the dressing room.

Yes,he is predominitely a youth and reserve coach,he would not be the right person to take the managers job.

Remember Roy was backed for the job on almost identical circumstances. Look at how that turned out. I don't we are looking down on Martinez, the man's done brilliant, but there are pressures at a club like Liverpool which may not exist at other clubs. I'd hate to see Martinez rubbing his face vigorously.

They pushed to avoid the drop, narrowly, doesn't mean he should be coming to manage LFC. He conducts himself well and I was glad to see them still in the prem, but I don't want him here. Hell, if you want to look at Martinez, why not Mark Hughes whilst you're at it?! Even with all of the problems he brings with him, Rafa is still in a different league to Martinez, and I don't even want Rafa back. It's time to move forward, make some small calculated risks, I see AVB as a positive calculated risk, I see Martinez as a leap of faith over a chasm.

+1. don't think martinez is the man. i believe he would cement our position in mid table.

I agree I think Martinez is the right choice but it's just my opinion and I know most of you don't agree

Who are you agreeing with? Because the post above yours says exactly the opposite of what you say.

Someone mentioned Martinez was good because he had Valencia - perhaps in a different thread. Like, wtf? I thought Steve Bruce signed him. So why aren't we in for Steve Bruce, then? He had Wigan up to 11th in the table, and never mind the guy before him who had them crack 10th. Yeah, Martinez really is all that, having the club finish worse than any of his predecessors in the EPL for each of 3 seasons. Obviously he's perfect for LFC!
