I think the fact that we're interviewing as many people as possible is equally dramatic. It suggests we don't have a clue what we're looking for; playing the field, so to speak. Much like our transfer activity last summer, some might say. "Get some guys who create chances, and a left back." Well we did that, but it didn't exactly work out in the first 12 months. Now we're like, "Get a manager". Will some random bloke be any better than Dalglish?

There are only 4 serious candidates for this job, quite frankly, as most rule themselves out due to present commitments or a lack of desire to stoop to taking on the Liverpool job. Those 4 are Klopp (unlikely), Benitez (some fans will have a field day, as will the press), AVB (young, adventurous, puts out unplayable teams in Portugal, EPL experience with a top club), and Capello (highly experienced and successful as a club manager, but may take time to adjust, oh, and the English hate him). If we're looking outside these 4 but at experienced winners ala Hiddink, Deschamps et al then ok, but if we're serious about Championship managers INSTEAD of any of these people then I wonder about our owners' sanity.

martinez is the favourite so i would say he is a serious candidate. cappello couldn't do the job, he needs a team already set up for him,he's defensive too. avb has a horrible experience in the prem behind him, shown to be to young for the move over here. who wins in portugal - one team out of two and he managed one of them. klopp don't know him but why would he leave a successful champs league team.

martinez will get the job, because we are going spanish again with the DOF and he fits the bill. i can't wait, his footy is brill, his manners and composure is brill, its going to be brill

Why is Martinez the favourite???

He is only said to be so depending on what news site you look at. On others it is AVB. A few are touting Klop, Guardiola, Capello even.

We have 10-12 candidates and an application process to go through!

Its not about interviewing 12 mangers that suggests we have no clue, it will depend on who we are interviewing. I mean Martinez is a decent manager, however if we keep on interviewing managers with limited credentials Rodgers is another example, then it will show we are desperate.

pep told us no already, i would say martinez first asked, first in. plus a favourite is usually a fav cause some board director mentioned it to some journo or another.

Too simplistic. There are lots of nuances here. What happens to Chelsea and Di Matteo after the CL final - this effects Capello and possibly Deschamps. There is the VIlla job, which may be a more viable proposition for Martinez or Lambert. Dortmund recently thrashed the CL finalists in the German cup and have CL football next season to look forward to - so that probably rules Klopp out. There are all sorts of outsiders like De Boer, Rijkard, Bielsa, Girard, Lowe, etc., some of which could not commit to a decision until after the Euros. The fact the Deschamps had a poor year has probably knocked him down the pecking order. Then their is the Roma job, which may involve AVB.

In short, there is a lot in play here - and we have to be patient and stop kneejerking with every media ragsheet headline.

lol! Benitez has been asking for years - way ahead of Martinez in the chronological queue. Just cos you creamed yourself when he was linked with an interview doesn't mean he's anyone else's favourite. And the director who leaked it was the chairman at Wigan. So much for your theory.
