Haha!

Political asylum in Italy!

Never heard of that before.

Maybe he can stay with Berlusconi. His mafia-friends will see to that the British authorities won't take JT out of the country in one piece!

I thought John Terry was immense for england in the euros fully justifying Hodgson's faith in him over that clown Ferdinand who is nowhere near as good as his ego thinks he is.

Good luck in the court case John which is a show trial and a lot of politically correct posturing. Hopefully it will be thrown out.

Not sure of the ins and outs of it but is it racist to say as Terry initially claimed that he said "I didn't call you a black ****"? For whats it worth I think he did call him blind but Terry is no angel.

He was immense last night, not sure how many blocks he got in

i can separate the player from the person

yes he was great last night and is a good player but that doesn't let him off if he was racist

He was great for England this tournament, particularly last night. All credit to him, he was pretty flawless and contributed massively to keeping us in the game for 120 mins. Having said that, his defense of "I was saying do you think I called you a..." is feeble at a push. I'm not getting aggro and shouting racist terry etc etc, as the man clearly plays and gets on with players from all different races, but he clearly made a racist comment in the heat of the moment. For that, if the FA want to be consistent in anyway whatsoever, need to hand him the same ban as Suarez, Which I'm pretty sure they'll do after he gets the little slap on the wrist fine from the courts.

Is it a different scenario though if Ferdinand presumably thought he heard him call him black etc and said did you call me a black **** and then Terry responds and says no I didnt call you a black ****? If Terry called him blind initially I don't know if that is the same as Suarez

yes i agree but we must have consistency

if Suarez gets given the book and a 8 match ban then if john terry is deemed racist in a court of law then he should also be given the book

I don't like one rule for the foreigner and one rule for the Englishman mentality the press have been given out

I agree completely that if he committed a racist act then he should receive the same suspension as Suarez. What I don't know is how to define if he what he did is racism or not?

Different situations though. The FA acted following a complaint from Evra so they dealt with it accordingly. A member of the public made a complaint about Terry to the police so it has to be dealt with differently. A judge won't be able to hand out an 'x' game ban. Besides, dispicable pile of crap that Terry is, all he did was call someone a name. It's laughable that someone felt the need to call the police! I'm sure if Anton was that upset he should have told his mum.

I agree but I think Suarez was unfairly treated it was a nonsense. The whole thing was a farce. So we can't stitch up John Terry to algn with that two wrongs don't make a right

Careex they call the police to get him in trouble. People are using the law to settle personal scores. This is costing taxpayers millions in society in general.

I know what you mean stan, but the law is the law and its a lot better than in other countries even if there are bound to be cases which people find ridiculous. What is non sensical is that one case (suarez) goes to the mickey mouse FA court and the other goes to pc plod. Either all offences including 'deliberate fouls ' are goverened by police or all offences are governend by FA. The only pratical solution is to give the FA total control and keep police out of any matters not involving a member of the general public. The system says that because a 'tw*t' / 'diligent member of the public ' reports it to the police, it becomes a police matter.

This has got to stop. It is clearly open to abuse. The exception has to be made for football . It is the national game.

CjKent the FA probably won't to anything. They will say its a police matter public order offence and out of their jurisdiction. Hypocritical to the end.

The problem with the FA courts is that its not a legal court clearly. In a court Evera would have been told to prove his claims. If suarez had denied everything he had a small chance of getting off. Evra had no proof. As stan was saying its enough to accuse someone of racism and the accused person has to justify them selves. .This ( and this is overlaping into the legal system for the big cases for the famous people etc) is contrary to the notion that used to be sancrosanct in the UK that the person accused is innocent till proven other wise. If I were to accuse a person of stealing 2 oranges from my grocers (hypothetical) The first thing the policeman would look for would be the oranges. If he found the accused person with 2 oranges , even thats not enough ! He could say the bought them in marks andspencer. But this doesnt seem to be the case for the FA (it never was the case where they needed proof to ban a player) but, we are entering dangerous areas when the accuser doenst need to back up his claims.

In the UK the other problem is that with the new terrorism laws the police themselves need less proof in order to detain someone. I am not necessarily against this as 'needs must', but the long term effect is that as a society we are more ready to accept the dramatic, less likely to think, and be sure that what we are doing is right, and to have proof before we go around accusing others
In other countries if you go around accusing people of things and you can't back it up you are in serious sh1t. Not in the uk
