But on the subject of Dempsey: he's 29, and his best season is behind him. We need to look at targets from clubs who finished above us and not below us. Especially those players who are past it.

Why would players with the exception of Newcastle want to come to us?

At best we're looking at fringe players from City. Adam johnson been the obvious one there. Cant see any united or everton players coming. No one at chelsea I can think of. Aaron Ramsey doesnt seem to have made the next step since his injury but could possibly be tempted by Arsenal but doubt it. Cabaye from Newcastle would fit in well with the passing philosophy and I would like to see a bid for him
