I understand what you're saying, but Rugger is a little different to Football. Generally Rugby teams are provinces and EVERYONE in the area supports the same team (Auckland / Canterbury / N.S.W / Nataal / Munster ect) but football is different in the respect that most cities have more than one football team - and if your parents support a certain team, 99.9% of the time you're born into it.

As for the kids...

You stop any 5 year old in liverpool - bitter or Red and they'll tell you straight off the bat who their idol is, how crap Everton is... you name it. All the kidda's want is this seasons kit with their name / favourite players name on the back - just like all the other kids.. football's just a different animal altogether.

Having said all that, I'm not against the mascot at all it doesn't bother me either way, just don't see why we need one.

Just please, please don't introduce cheerleaders - otherwise we may as well go the whole hog and install "applause" signs...

As for not wanting change - isn't the world global enough already??? Travelling lost half it's charm years ago, everywhere looks the same with it's chain stores and eateries.... lost half of it's appeal.. do you really want football to just blend in with every other sporting occasion???

I certainly don't.

Let's just keep football football: a pint and pie - is that really so wrong???

I don't get all the fuss here. Just watch the game if you don't like the Mascot just don't bother. What is the big deal here. If something is working somewhere else and it might provide us more fans, then what is the harm in doing it.
