I like Dempsey, I've very rarely seen the fella have a bad game and IMO has been a consistently good player for a number of years. I also like how he's a fighter and keeps on going. Rodgers said that there will be one (Boroni), maybe 2 players coming in this week, I'll assume that it Dempsey, and I'll hope that he is signed by Monday. If not I think I'll believe the swap Rumours.

If we sign a winger as well as Dempsey, I can see Dempsey making lots of penetrative pounding runs from just in behind the front 3.

What a foursome!

I agree with you annefield to the extent that possession football is not much good without incisiveness, however suarez alone provided enough of that to leave defences in tatters, all that is needed is someone who can be there in the box to tap the ball in, dempesy can do that, i am sure borini would be able to manage it.

Andy carrol while providing the heading option needs a couple of years to learn how to exploit his own talents and is not 'ready' for premiership football, (unless he plays for allerdyce)

I disagree. Suarez is great. He makes chances out of nothing, but he can't be our only incisive option. It's too one-dimensional and easily countered.

Agreed 100%. If we can, somehow, add another Suarez to the attack it will create more spcae for him and the chance for him to be even better and more effective.

What we need to do (and it looks like Rodgers is operating somewhat along these lines given "Siggi-gate") is sign up players who have just had one of those "wonder seasons" offer them very maaaaaaaaaaaaarginally better contracts that they are on at their present clubs - with the incentive of an improved contract if they produce.

Give players the opportunity to step up career wise (we're talking about the Dempsey's / Adam's ect.) and reward them accordingly. What they've achieved in the past with their respective clubs has earned them the chance to play at Anfield, but what they've achieved means nothing until they produce at Liverpool F.C.

If they would rather apply their trade at a club who will initially pay them a kings ransom, then so be it.. we don't want players who think they've "made it" and take their foot off the gas because of the size of their bank balance - these players never wanted to play for the shirt in the first place.

Rodgers has to sell them his philosophy, his ideas... excite and inspire them, make them want to be here.. fight for and wear the famous Red shirt with pride!

Disagree with that, and I find it quite arrogant considering where we are as a club. Many years ago we might have been able to offer people this 'glorious opportunity' of playing at anfield, but these days players don't see Anfield as some kind of magical place. To the modern player, we're just another club that isn't good enough for top flight european football.

If they don't see Anfield as a step up from the Fulham's & Blackpool's - playing alongside the Gerrard's / Reina's / Agger's / Suarez's / Johnson's... THE KOP - then leave them be.

World class players who are tried and tested are another story, but the players above that I mentioned should be scratching at the walls, itching to run out at Anfield (not that ANYONE shouldn't ;))

If you think we're just another Bolton or West Ham then you've never been to Anfield.

Seriously.

Yes we're undoubtedly a step up from fulham/blackpool but we are hardly the pinnacle these days - many players would indeed see us as an opportunity...but only as a stepping stone to something bigger.
You're looking at it from a lifelong liverpool supporters point of view though, and not from that of a neutral player with no affiliation to LFC. Of COURSE you and I see playing at anfield as a big opportunity, but there are far more teams offering bigger opportunities. We are NOT the fearsome force we once were and our stadium is a derelict sh!thole compared a lot of others. If you still see us as a european giant with a stadium that eclipses all others 'then you've never been to anfield'.

Seriously.
