I saw this comment posted on another site, by a Geordie. I can't pick a single line that I disagree with, clear headed and spot on in my mind..
"That's the thing, players dont go to clubs for history etc any more. There might be a very few of the top end world class who would, but these are very, very special circumstances. The best Liverpool can go for at the moment is the players who are on the cusp of becoming great, but those are gambles. The only players with big names Liverpool could attract at this point in time are arguably the wrong kind, the kind who will be after the money and large amounts of it (Joe Cole? - money wise, anyway..) and those often dont bring success just a name and generate baggage and disharmony in the camp.
Liverpool are a 3-4 year project to sort out and there is no quick fix, its going to take take some shrewd scouting to push their way back in up at the top, and only then will they be able to attract the big names - but is that really such a good thing?
The best thing Liverpool fans can do is sit back dont put any pressure on the club for a few years and let BR do his thing. After 3 years then you can start to judge, because at present, Liverpool are at a dangerous crossroads - Newcastle were at one a few seasons back & didn't take the right route with until we got relegated. That slippery slope comes hard and fast, and the Premier League doesnt pay attention to past histories and names.."

I is struggling to agree with the stranger. Because I believe glory will come sooner than some of you think, it all depends whether or not the stubborn players buckle up and jump on board. Do that, and the football philosophy has no other choice but to be successful, as it will depend on our opposition to match it in order to beat it. We will be so far ahead next season, no team in the league will be able to keep up or overtake us in the table, meaning we win the league by a total whitewash, a clear victory.
The only other team that can rival us will be Arsenal, but they have not strengthened enough and if they sell van Persie, then they might as well give up for good on top 4 unless they replace him with genuine world class.
No other team will be able to have what we have with Joe Allen, he wants Liverpool, we want him, the time has come fellow reds title number 19 is only just around the corner.
If Rodgers fails the objective five games in, we'll just sack him and get somebody else in like Roberto Martinez. Win-win.

It's not a win-win because the manager merry-go-round just sets the club back in terms of progress. Henry likes Rodgers' youth, philosophy, and inspirational verve - and will give him more time than either Hodgson or Dalglish, neither of which were his picks. Defo. Even though we never won the league, we always did well in the past by sticking with our managers in Ged / Raffa ect. where as the Tottenhams & Newcastles of the past always had a revolving door that resembles our own of late - never bought them any luck either. As long as we're looking positive & improving, we need to give BR time, one one of those 5 infamous "5 year plans" if you will.. Stability.
