Loc: Rodgers is a shiite manager.
Rodgers said: 'There is a big job to do and we will have more days like this along the way. That is the reality of it. It is still a work in progress.

What the fck is this all about? im not buying this for a second. why cant good players perform now? its not like we inherited prisoners from another camp in Escape to Victory. Im sorry, i like Brendan, but this is a load of [oops].

This could be our 4th manager failure. couple that with owners who have been touting the above quote to excuse the fact they havent turned things round.

The possible verdict on all this is: We have owners who dont have the means, and a manager who needs longer than we have.

It's nonsense. Work in progress, it'll take time... they (last management and this, along with the present owners) talk about us as if we're fighting relegation every season.

agreed. it just doesnt add up. teams with poorer players coming in with equally new managers and giving us a pasting? no excuse for anything of the sort.

Calm down Flames. We lost our opening game - that's all! It was an even game until the wonder strike - we were still in it until the penalties and sending off then it all unravelled. People are reading too much into it.

FSG will back BR and give him time - barring catastrophe. He's their man and they'll let him rebuild. Chopping and changing managers has done nothing for us.

As far as BR's post game comments - what do you want him to say? He's managing expectations because he's a new manager with lots of new players playing a new system. Don't read into the scoreline - the game just got away from us and he knows we need to make a few adjustments. There is still two weeks of the window and a couple more salaries will get shoveled out.

Just be patient - you're one of the more sensible posters so don't succumb to the negative hype.

its not hype KP. the excuse is nonsense fro either party. firstly in relation to BR, west brom had new manager and mediocre players. he outwitted us with a wave of a hand. we dont look any different to last season. it was an appalling thing to happen and yet he is suggesting it will happen again?

as for the owners, it infuriates me when i look at how quickly city turned it round. right manager, right players, job done. we piiss money away, we make excuses, we get nowhere and now we are supposed to be patient?

anyway, we have no choice but to be patient. we're potentially fuucked.

Let's be honest Dunc... too many fans here want it both ways. The majority on Kop Talk opted to axe Dalglish, get a manager with fresh ideas, and re-jig the squad from last year. Now they're getting that they're already moaning one match in!

I know you've done some research on FSG.. so have I. They're long-termists and will tackle the issues at hand. They're not going to chuck money at it a la Man City. They are trying to rebuild the infrastructure... and BR is just the man they were looking for. A coach with a long term plan and a bit of moxy about him. I think people are overreacting to the WBA game. Both Spurs and Newcastle got hammered in their opening games last season.

I support the set-up at the moment but they do talk too much and they often say things that I find a little patronising smile

Well given the fixture list we are going to know where we stand fairly early.

We will see what response we get from the players next Sunday.

But I dont think there is any quick fix available and I'm starting to get a little worried that our owners talk plenty but produce little.

"Managing expectation" would have Shankly spinning in his grave.

A lot of that is the media and our 24 hour news cycles. Everything JH or BR says gets recycled 50 different ways. I really don't think their PR is that bad. They need to improve it, yes, but it's early days with a lot of new people still gelling together. For all the doom and gloom on this site - and the gutless responses of defeatism to one bleedin' game - I think we are better off than we were three years ago under H&G, minutes away from administration. It's not happening fast enough for some people (and I too struggle with patience) but the squad is slowly getting leaner and younger and less wage bloated. Our three new players all have potential - we've shifted some aging players - and there is still time for more business and reshaping.

am really sick of "my system ---- my system" pressers.does any other manager say it that much? would like to know if anyone else does...do we really need to discuss all that on media whole week and get dumped by sides like these

would have appreciated such honesty from someone like steve Clarke who apparently had first ever game as a manager (correct me if im wrong) ....new players.new system..it applies for him too...and he would have taken more sympathy n respect with that....but dont think BR should with all the work in media for last 2 months or so....
