I think I'm right in saying he has 2 years left on his contract so they would probably get 15-20 million next summer (thats if he had a decent season at Villa). Randy Learner is in it for the money and wants out. He'll agree the sale, just trying to get as much as possible. I expect it will be 25 mill plus some add ons if qualify for champions league. Well worth doing that given the extra money if we qualify. I'm still not convinced Rodgers will get the best put of him but he scores a lot of goals and thats what we need. We wont get anyone better. Not sure what makes you think Rodgers will get the best out of Benteke after failing miserably with Lallana, Markovic, Lovren, Balotelli, Moreno to name a few.

Why? There is a world out there full of strikers and the overpriced Heskey clone is all that we can find.
I'm just not buying that at all. He's that good there all just queuing up to sign him at £32 million.
Good grief. Danny Welbeck is the Emile Heskey clone I swear! Difference between Heskey and Benteke is Benteke is prolific, thats very valuable especialy to a team that struggles to score goals like us which is why we will pay a big fee. I said I'm not convinced Rodgers is the man to get the best out of Benteke. Mourinho would have him scoring 30 goals a season. The big risk is not Benteke's ability, its Rodgers ability to use him correctly. Regardless, he is a goalscorer and I think he will still contribute a lot of goals.

Good grief. Top strikers are a rare breed. They are a specimen. There is very very few in European football.

Come on guys he's the only player we could afford with already proven pl exp the rest are either too old for FSG to pay big money or too expensive PL experience counts for very little. Balotelli, lovren, allen and lambert all had PL experience...

This is one player I hope wants CL instead of joining us. There are better strikers out there FSG need to pay the wages and get the right player in. You'd think that we should've learnt from the last window.
That said we did spend 11M when we signed Borini and 16M on Mario.

Interesting read, enough to sway a negative opinion of Benteke. I must admit i always got scared when he has the ball in the 18, because there is always an 80-90% chance he will score.

Interesting read, enough to sway a negative opinion of Benteke. I must admit i always got scared when he has the ball in the 18, because there is always an 80-90% chance he will score. Can I ask, which variables did you consider whilst calculating that percentage?

Just a quick bit from it, where people saying that he is lazy and does not press. The villa supporter is saying that he is told not to push as under Lambert villa wanted to invite people into the box so they could then break with their fast players. He also says that if he is asked to press he will do it. The Carroll comparison is a bit silly.
