"He slowed down and positioned himself to take a rub of skrtels legs" = he played for it, but it does not = not a penalty.

Just because he played for it 1. does not make it a dive and 2. does not make it not a penalty. It is harsh yes cause skrtel didn't look like he knew what he was doing. But it was a foul, it was in the box, it is a penalty.

As for Agger's Red. Any appeal will get laughed out and possibly get another game ban added on for a frivolous appeal. He pushed him. That means a foul a penalty and if he was last man and it was a clear goal scoring opportunity (which is what happened) then it is a red. There can be no argument.

Time and effort would be better spent planning and training on what to do when this happens again! And I suspect it will during the current season! I would only appeal it if there is clear cut evidence otherwise don't bother FA will happen!

I don't think Skrtels was a penalty! Skrtel had possession of he ball and was tackled from behind freeing a slightly from his control! As he went to get it back the WBA player got slightly ahead of him with momentum and tripped! I think it was pretty harsh!

Aggers was definitely a penalty even if the push was soft!

Has there been any news on any possible appeal? I assume the club won't be appealing, but as far as I know, they haven't confirmed this? I think it'd be silly to appeal, especially if there's a possibility of the ban being extended due to a flippant appeal.

1 match is no big deal, in fairness. If it was 3 matches, then maybe, but I think we should just take the 1 match ban on the chin. Skrtel + Carra vs Man City gives me chills though..

To be honest this is the sort of thing that happens when the ref has a bad game. Then again Suarez had two fantastic chances with his head amongst four or five others we had. Said before the game Clarke would know enough to get a couple of goals. Helped by the ref that happened but we did not take the ones we created. But at least we created. Unlike Man U who did not look like scoring all night because Eveton did not let them run at them into the box to get a dodgy pen.

Don't like seeing us defend deep but when we do we are good at it.

10 men v 11 we don't do very well as was seen several times last season. Some of those clips show that the ref was consistently bad and maybe he himself had a bad day at the office. Like the one at Spurs a few years ago when Benitez said this referee does not give two penalties to the same team. We had one that day and two other absolute stone wallers turned down. Home town ref? Probably not but evidence suggests that he is not up to this level on too many occasions.

If so, that's the right decision. I heard the other day that Agger himself said he wanted to appeal. That's gotta be the manager's decision, not his.

dont think its worth it because both incidents are still within the letter of the law

they are 2 of the most pathetic / soft penalties you will ever come across tho and very harsh

shane long goes down very easily both times. imagine what kind of backlash and abuse suarez would of got if that was him? infact if it was him he'd probably have been booked twice. you don't see decisions like these ever going against man united!

i watched a similar incident to the agger sending off in the villa v west ham game. carlton cole went down with a push from vlaar i think. nothing given. agger hardly touches him, yet he goes down japanese sniper style... still tries to put the ball in the net. the ref plays advantage then blows up for a penalty and a sending off.

on another day, another ref i think both of these could have been waved easily. but i suppose thats football.
