indeed, i think it falls back on the coaching system, we need to find that one penetrative way of attacking that leaves opponents concentrating on that instead of him. Man U game is its wingers team prepare for Man U by closing out its wingers that doesnt mean if the ball comes inside to rooney he doesnt know what to do with it but their main thing is putting in crosses. Man city as so much quality in their team that opponents normally get nervous and refuse to put pressure on them instead opponents stay back and give them the space to do what they want instead of committing to tackles. Thats Liverpools problem at the moment team dont allow us to pass around the ball in their half freely they press us and try to mark out suarez then catch us on the counter. I think we should start practicing to cut in off the wings with our wide men and take the shot as quickly as possible with me hoping our wide men have the quality to atleast get the ball on target. With that being a start we could evolve from there with full backs overlapping and putting in crosses or midfielders getting the ball at the top of the 18.

I think our problem was highlighted perfectly againgst West Brom, when things went wrong we had to rely on Carragher/Cole not good enough.

im not debating that these players arent good enough cause we all know it, but neither of them are in the first team, so how do you explain our lack of goal and attempt to impact the match prior to their introduction. As i said before im not saying getting better players wont improve any team but every team as its strengths and weaknesses and ways to improve the squad and at this point alot of focus needs to be placed on our system and some means of penetration, everything is done in stages getting all class players then trying to form a system wont work (like what happened to City) we need to master our system the look to get better players to come in. No matter how we look at it cole and Carra werent the reason we lost that game, when we went one down we do what we've been doing over the last couple of seasons we crumble. We on this forum all know that LFC cant compete for class players at the moment so where do we put our attention now.

a perfect example of this again is city. the season previous to them winning alot could argue that city had the strongest team in the league but yet they didnt win. But even at that point they had to change their manager with a class one knowing how hes planning on attacking, and when they got aguerio the puzzle was near completion.

Suarez for me has to play in wide position or at least operate like a free electron - let him move wherever he wants. just not as a main striker.

the main beef for me about our liverpool team is that we have only a couple of players who make good decisions. We cant really pass like Arsenal because they have speed and they pass INTO the players path while they are running into space - i have been saying this for years. It is the way we pass. Players like Lucas always pass into feet while we have players like Gerrard who like to run onto the ball but cant find players who can give him a decent ball back. that was why we were successful with Mascherano and Alonso. One won the ball back and gave it to someone who knew the difference between a 5 metre pass into a player and one for the player to run onto.

Even if we have proper wingers, we wont know what to do because there is little prenetration if you dont know how to play the right kind of pass. At times against WBA, we were passing for the sake of passing without really doing anything with it. The WBA players just waited and stood still while Gerrard, Suarez, Downing, Kelly and Lucas passed blindly to each other standing still. The penetration came when borini broke and played a pass into the onrushing Johnson to cross into the box. that is how we can become dangerous. we cant expect Gerrard and Suarez to produce herculean feats every week.
